A short history of ... the Fiat 124 Familiare

This website specifically writes about everything Fiat 124 Familiare. The Fiat 124 Familiare is the estate (wagon) version of the popular Fiat 124 sedan. Designed by the Italian manufacturer Fiat. Fiat 124 sedan The Fiat 124 sedan was introduced in March 1966 on the Geneva Motor Show. One year later it was selected as "Car of the year" in The Netherlands and many other countries. A succes was born. Styling appears to be 3-box design, making it roomy. The 124 sedan was praised for its roomy interior, modern suspension, brake discs on all axles and lightweight construction. The technical design was developed under the guidance of Dante Giacosa. The car was propelled by the forcylinder 1.2 litre engine with lower camshaft, delivering 60 horsepower (later to be 65 hp). Wheels on the Fiat 124

 Our mean green machine came with a set of prestine MOMO alloy wheels. Rather rare. There is not a lot of information available on these wheels. Recently I saw one set on auction; There is an old advertisement on Facebook refering to these wheels If somebody could find me the correct centercaps - please get in touch with me, because those would make the set complete.

Fiat 124 Familiare grips

  When you are restoring a Fiat 124 Familiare, it's crucial that all items are bagged and labelled. And even if you have done that...  sometimes the build up, can be a little confusing. Take this for example...   On the ceiling above the doors, are grips (or handles). Building them back on you discover that they are not all the same...  two of them have coat hooks on them, one doesn't. Did I loose anything? Is 1 hook on the garagefloor? Facebook to the rescue! Just ask...  and there is always a fellow Fiat 124 enthousiast that can inform you on the details you won't find in the manual or parts catalogue. Bumpers

There are several versions of the bumpers for the Fiat 124 Familiare. The car was introduced with the small "overriders" with the small rubber pads fitted on them, both front and rear. Used at least in 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969.
