What color green, is on the Fiat 124 Familiare?

When buying the "green" Fiat 124 Familiare, it was clear that the green exterior (which a lot of people love).... didn't fit the green interior. Clearly the car had received a new paint coat somewhere in it's live.

The amount of "overspray" was obvious. What didn't was clear, was the original color... hence what color was used when this vehicle left the Italian factory in 1969?

Endless reseach on the internet... didn't do the trick... an badge/plate/sticker with the paint codes was not on the vehicle.

The plate that indicates the VIN code.... does normally also tell the color code, but that is only the case for "newer models"...

And a list with paint codes/samples... on the internet.. as rare as the car itself.

Hmm... that didn't help... Maybe buy me an 1969 Fiat 124 brochure... colors would be right next to the specifications, right? Nope..

Maybe Facebook can be helpfull (again)? And yes... once "Storico Fiat" posted the 1969 colors...

And there it is!! Fiat 323 - Verde Oliva

Bought myself an paint-to-order rattle can of Fiat 323.... spayed a test piece.... and under the rubber mat, in the boot...... there is al lot of original paint... in all of it's 323 Verde Oliva greenness...

And I love that color - perfect match to the brown interior.

So... there will be one day... the car gets a new coat of paint again... back to its original green.

How to: remove chrome trim on doors

The rubber seals for the sliding door windows were like concrete and all brittle at the 2101 Lada. New rubbers bought at Lada Powerrr did the trick. Since the Fiat 124 Familiare (1969) has exactly the same trim, we probably have to do replace them too in the near future. At Lada Power they sell a seal kit for the 2105. Works like a charm, but for the front seals you have to shorten them (hence at the 2105 there is no triangle shaped window. first you pry the end upwards Getting the chrome strips off - without damaging the paint (or the stainless trim) is a pain in the $%s. How it started

I'm probably not the only one... that keeps a list of cars "I would like to own" one day. Nothing strange for car-guys right? Of course the obvious suspects like BMW 2002, Ford Escort Mk. 1, and Alpine A110 ... I have a somewhat quirky taste. On that quirky list is the Rover 220 turbo coupe, classic Mini Clubman/van and... an good old boxy Lada. The Lada story started with an 1200 in maroon red (21012 to be precise). A relative young example - from first owner build in 1988. Still love that car. both the 2101 Lada & Fiat 124 Familiare And since we like to use our cars for long holidays - the best upgrade would be an Estate - right? The hunt for an Lada 2102, was a journey of years... Good ones are rare to find. Bad ones also. Most of them are in eastern Europe.... always advertised with 49.000 km's on the speedo (for a 50 year old car ;-)... and the paint still wet. For real money.. And since I'm not 100% stuck on it to be Russia...
